Health and Safety Inspections – Engineer Variant

The Engineer variant is advanced software for comprehensive health and safety hazard management – from identifying an issue, assigning it to the responsible person or contractor and setting its priority, through to confirming that the hazard has been resolved. Designed for health and safety professionals, inspectors and safety coordinators who supervise multiple areas and need full control over corrective actions.
The Engineer variant combines digital health and safety inspections with a hazard management system – you spend less time coordinating corrective actions and gain full control over contractors and open hazards. Reports can be generated in DOCX or PDF format and filtered by category, contractor or hazard severity level.

For Health and Safety Professionals and Safety Coordinators

The app and software have been designed for day-to-day work at sites where one inspector supervises several areas, trades or teams at the same time. It is suitable for manufacturing facilities, warehouses, construction sites and recurring workplace health and safety inspections.
  • 🦺 health and safety professionals and inspectors carrying out recurring workplace inspections
  • 👷 site and construction inspectors responsible for safety on construction sites
  • 📋 safety coordinators working across multiple locations
  • 🔧 site managers and works managers coordinating multiple contractor teams
  • 🏢 HSE teams in manufacturing and logistics facilities with multiple risk areas

How Does Engineer Differ from the Basic Variant?

✅ Basic Variant

A simple health and safety inspection – record hazards, add photos, generate a report and send it to your manager or client. The process ends there.

⚙️ Engineer Variant

Manage the full lifecycle of a health and safety issue – record it, assign a hazard severity level, category and contractor, monitor corrective actions, mark it as resolved and generate follow-up reports. The process continues until all hazards have been eliminated.

How Does Health and Safety Hazard Management Work in the Engineer Variant?

📸 Hazard Reporting

Just like in the Basic variant, you add photos and descriptions directly in the app during a site walk or workplace health and safety inspection. No paper notes and no need to rewrite everything later.

⚠️ Hazard Severity – Action Priority

Assign each issue a hazard severity level using a 4-level scale – from a minor housekeeping issue (Level 1) to a critical hazard requiring work to be stopped immediately (Level 4).

🏷 Category / Trade Assignment

Assign each issue to a specific area or trade, such as electrical work, fire safety, working at height or warehouse operations. You immediately know which department, trade or area is responsible.

👷 Contractor Assignment

Assign a specific person, department or contractor responsible for resolving the hazard – making it clear who is responsible for each corrective action.

✔️ Mark Hazards as Resolved

Once corrective action has been completed, mark the issue as resolved. You maintain a clear overview of open hazards, ongoing corrective actions and completed items.

📊 Category and Follow-Up Reports

Generate reports filtered by category, contractor or hazard severity. Each contractor receives only the hazards assigned to them – without items belonging to other teams or companies.

4-Level Health and Safety Hazard Severity Scale

🟡 Level 1 – Minor Issue

Housekeeping or administrative issues that do not pose an immediate risk to health or safety, such as poor housekeeping, missing signs or outdated documentation. Action: Correct within the standard timeframe.

🟠 Level 2 – Issue Requiring Corrective Action

Issues that increase the risk of an accident, such as worn personal protective equipment, partially obstructed escape routes or missing up-to-date safety instructions. Action: Prompt corrective action with follow-up.

🔴 Level 3 – Serious Hazard

Hazards that could result in injury or a serious incident, such as damaged machine guards, defective fire safety equipment or work being carried out without the required training or authorisation. Action: Immediate corrective action. Work may need to be restricted.

🚨 Level 4 – Critical Hazard

An immediate risk to life or health, such as working at height without fall protection, exposed live electrical components or a hazardous substance leak. Action: Stop work immediately until the hazard has been eliminated.

Practical Health and Safety Inspection Scenarios

🔌 Electrical Safety Inspection in a Manufacturing Facility During a health and safety inspection, you identify 12 issues. You assign them to the electrical category and to the contractor responsible for maintaining the installation. Issues involving exposed live electrical components are assigned Level 4, while the remaining issues are assigned Level 2. You generate a category report and send it to the responsible team. One week later, you return, verify the corrective actions and mark 10 issues as resolved. 🏗 Coordinating Multiple Trades on a Construction Site During a health and safety inspection of one floor, you identify issues across several areas: electrical work, fire safety, working at height and waste management. Each issue is assigned to the appropriate trade and contractor. You generate separate reports so that each company receives only the hazards for which it is responsible. 📅 Recurring Monitoring of Corrective Actions You have 35 issues identified during a health and safety audit. Every week, you check progress and mark completed corrective actions as resolved. After one month, you generate a final report showing how many issues have been resolved and how many remain open.

Why Do Hazard Severity, Categories and Contractors Matter?

⭐ Each contractor or department receives a report containing only their hazards – they know exactly what needs to be corrected. ⭐ Hazard severity clearly defines the urgency of the response – everyone can immediately see what is critical and what can be corrected within the standard timeframe. ⭐ You can see which trade, category or area generates the most issues – making it easier to identify trends and plan preventive actions. ⭐ No need to maintain separate Excel spreadsheets – the software sorts and filters the information for you. ⭐ Management receives the complete picture, while each contractor receives only the items within their scope of responsibility.

Benefits for Health and Safety Inspectors and Coordinators

⏱ Less Time Spent on Coordination Instead of calling several contractors and explaining what needs to be corrected, you send each of them a report containing their assigned hazards and priorities. 📊 Full Control Over Open Hazards At any time, you can see how many issues remain open, which have been resolved and who is responsible for completing the corrective actions. 💼 Professional Health and Safety Documentation Document the entire process – from identifying a hazard and assigning responsibility through to confirming that corrective action has been completed. 📂 One System for the Entire Health and Safety Inspection Process You do not need separate tools for recording hazards, coordinating corrective actions and generating reports. ✅ Evidence of Corrective Actions Marking an issue as resolved helps you maintain an organised history of corrective actions and follow-up inspections.

Who Is the Engineer Variant Best For?

The Engineer variant has been designed for professionals who:
  • coordinate health and safety activities involving multiple trades or contractor teams at one site
  • need to track corrective action progress over time
  • need to generate separate reports for each trade or contractor
  • want complete documentation of the corrective action process from hazard identification through to resolution
  • manage health and safety at multi-trade construction sites or facilities
